At Codurance, our MDs Sandro Mancuso, Mashooq Badar and José Huerta regularly meet for informal chats after work. These discussions, where they share their personal insights, form the basis of our Fireside Chats, which you can find on our YouTube Channel.

Software Craftsmanship is at the heart of Codurance, in fact we call our developers 'craftspeople'.  In this episode, the trio explore the role of craftsmanship in software engineering and development.

Sandro discussed how understanding what is meant by these terms helps us find common ground for these concepts.

José put forward the idea that software craftsmanship came out of a need to supplement software engineering, as it was at the time.  People were losing the global view of development.  Craftsmanship has brought back the understanding of the software making process as a whole.

Mash explored how software craftsmanship is more than just writing 'well-crafted code'; how it embodies pragmatism, professionalism and much more.
